You could also check out Izotope RX - these are restoration plugs for noise reduction, click/pops, distortions, etc. I don't know if this is out of your price range, but it has saved me quite a few times. Well worth it, in my book.

Default Re: Restoring Overly Compressed Music

I promised a report back so here goes.

The director got rid of the music before we even started - whew!! However, in preparing for the session and following advice above I came across several easily downloadable demo plugs that I really appreciated. The Flux E-Pure and Solera are unreal (though pRICy) - the warmth and transparency are mmmm, and the Wave Arts Mr Noise saved my ass (and I'll buy it should I do a similar project in the future despite its cost).

The bad news is my 003 got damaged through inappropriate use of redwine during the session - awaiting the bill - could be ouchville!

Cheers
Richard P

Yep, Flux plug-ins rock. Wine on 003s don't.

G'day Ozman. The Waves C4 is sometimes favoured by a mastering friend of mine as a means to expand some dynamic back into smashed material. Worth finding a friend who has it to run any heavily clobbered stuff through in the future.

Good luck with the 003, be grateful it wasn't a black russian, that stuff can eat the legs off an IC overnight!
