Default Sennheiser me-66 mic.

Hi there

Im about to buy a shotgun mic for fx recording, and dont know what to get.
Im planning on trying different models, but I also wanted to get your opinion on which to get, and not to get!
I´ve been thinking of the Sennheiser ME66 with the K6 power supply. These two cost around $700 in Denmark. This is my budget!
Any me66 users out there?
Thanks alot.

Best regards

The ME 66 is ok for the money--it is the mic of choice for many DV doco filmmakers buying their own kit.
It isn't as smooth, as high output or as quiet as Schoeps MK41, Senn. M KH60 etc. Like these mics
it also is not a true shotgun, it is just a hypercardioid. The get the off-axis rejection of a true shotgun
mic (helpful for mono fx) you would need a Neumann KMR82i, Senn. 816 etc.
