ATSC A85 loudness standard that is now law in US
It becomes a defacto law next year, and will not be enforced for a year after that. US congress essentially said that whatever ATSC recommends will be the law. That allows room for change. I am curous to see if the US will continue to have -24 LKFS/LUFS while the EU works with -23. That would be stupid, but it wouldn't surprise me.

can it read files - or do you have to play your mix through?
AFAIK, it is realtime only.

Most specs are + or - 1 so it won't be a problem. as far as my ear goes -23 or -24 as barely noticeable

Im not 100% sure but I've been told in Canada there is no Law or laws yet. I am not sure if there are any in the plans either.

Perhaps some other Canucks could chime in.

Every show I have done has a Spec sheet which looks like its a photocopy of a Spec sheet from the seventies. As it talks about Beta SP tapes and rarely has specs for 5.1 material. At least no specs audio wise. Its always kind of a gamble

Yes I would trust them for a dolby E layback, just as I trust Neyrinck with his encode and decode. Good software is great!

I've seen an early version and it looks pretty good. Lots of flexibility, lots of meter types.

BTW, I don't think "dialog intelligence" is at all import anymore. It's day has past. Gating based on level, such as recommended in the EBU R128 document, IS important. Vmeters does not have it yet, nor do most others currently on the market, but the devoloper has indicated it is coming in an update. Vmeters seems to have 'most everything else. The version I saw matched LKFS readings exactly to my LM5D and LM100. I have not checked the latest version, though. I will soon.

ps, I haven't tried nugenaudio's, I just wanted to point out a new option
Thanks So much for this!!! I needed LKFS monitoring at home for cheap.. i was about to give in and get the DMM2. Woo Hoo!

Does anybody know if Disco changed their specs in regards to the DX intelligence and are going with LKFS? Or are planning to soon?

Oh and also I did want to say the DMM2 also has LEQ(m) for Movie trailers and is a breeze to use and I dont see that feature on either one of these meters. Unless i missed it.

I just checked in with Jon at NuGen and to my chargrin, I hadn't noticed that there is an audiosuite version included as well - that can measure files instantaneously.

NuGen are also working on 1) new features 2) a batch processor & correction tool, which is in Beta - exciting times ahead for this plugin

The batch processor and correction tool will be on demo later in the month http://tech.ebu.ch/loudness11
