The preset buttons are actually saved settings. You'll see them listed as Quick Preset in the same Color Palette settings folder.

Can anyone else confirm this and/or is irked by it?

What say you Avid? Can we go back to how it was?
I noticed this straight away. I too, use saturated strips to keep me organized and I have variations of light / dark green in part of my template. In 2021.3 there was a noticeable distinction between the shades in the track header section that is impossible to duplicate in 2021.6 no matter which settings I tweak.

It's a small thing, but it IS irksome.

There’s got to be a way for them to get the header color to match the strip color like before. Seems like a glitch to me. It bothers me too.

Yes, if you trash prefs the UI Customization parameters will be reset. So, it's definitely a good idea to save your custom settings as a preset file. But, note that presets 1-5 exist as "Quick Preset 1.ptpreset", "Quick Preset 2.ptpreset", etc in the same preset folder location. So, these 1-5 assignments will be retained even after trashing prefs.

I should also mention this article in case any of you have issues saving Color Palette presets:

Personally I would have been thrilled to keep using the 2020.12 dark mode colour scheme. I really loved it, I found it sleek and visually pleasing and I'm really having trouble adapting to what feels like a much more chaotic setup now, even with all the wacky customization options. Especially the clip highlighting (the inversion and the white line around the selection) I'm really hating in the second iteration of dark mode, the extremely aggressive contrast between what's highlighted and not. I would have stayed with 2020.12 but the "real time threads" option seems to have eliminated some playback errors I've been having since leaving 2019.6. My vote is firmly in allowing for 2020.12 dark mode again. Oh and the UI Customization menu hanging off the bottom of the Colour Palate really mucks up my view of the top right of the screen where I normally keep that window floating. Hopefully that gets moved somewhere less obtrusive... This all really feels like a "kitchen sink" approach vs the much more refined 2020.12 dark mode. And maybe the worst thing is that the grid lines are a lighter colour than the background. It used to be the other way around (the grid lines were darker), that was a lot easier on the eyes. I tried adjusting the grid line brightness down but it doesn't go far enough to make it darker than the background. Especially inside clips those with all the grid lines the same brightness (before it was darker outside a clip and lighter inside) there's less distinction between clips and track. The clips seem masked by the grid lines. I noticed the grid brightness slider only goes down to 35 so maybe being able to go below that would be a solution. For now I can only stand to look at the timeline in slip mode. This stuff really wasn't broken before was it? I'm also disappointed that if I go to other studios there is yet another little setting file I have to load into the depths of that system to get it to look right, rather than a standardized dark mode... a la 2020.12... Ok enough ranting. Also the orange volume lines for uncoloured VCAs were really nice the grey is ugly.

Unfortunately you are deeply in the minority here. Many hated dark mode altogether. The ones that preferred dark mode wanted desperately to modify it for easier reading. Almost everybody wanted the option to adjust the colors to their liking, hence Avid listened and provided such functionality. This is the first iteration of this functionality, so there are areas of improvement. What seems like chaos to you, may be exactly what is needed to customize the UI that suits another.

Not to mention the purple elephant in the room,,,,,,everyones color and contrast "perception" can be from slightly, to sometimes dramatically different (depending on their specific DNA)
So it's very much a matter of different strokes for different folks .

Personally I really like header color being more pronounced Between the new color pallet adjustments and musicman 691's modded file, I am happy as a clam at high tide .

Thank you for bringing this up. This drove me nuts for the few days I worked on 2021.6 ! The colors you select in the palette no longer correlate to the colors on the actual tracks.

I take it you mean in the body of the track channel strip? Here is a screen shot of one of my Session templates. I notice the top and bottom color bar, is like or close to the color I select in the palette, but the rest of the channel strip is darker Honestly it does not bother me, but it is different.... I am assuming classic mode is not like this ? UPDATE In classic mode the channel strip body color gets lighter Hummm? Still liking the modded Dark mode ..
