Default Cheapest and easiest solution to upgrade to Pro Tools 11HD

I am looking to invest in upgrading my full recording setup.

I currently rock Pro Tools LE 8 and want to upgrade to 11HD.

What would be the simplest and cheapest way to do this?

Cheers

Matt

The cheapest way would be an HD Native system. There is a trade in deal if you have a 002, 003, or Mbox Pro. It looks like you have a regular Mbox 2. You might talk to your dealer and see if they can ask Avid if they will take the regular Mbox for the deal.

Cheers Guys.

Im looking at just getting the software. To be used for recording live shows and mix on the go with more than 32 Channels.

for more than 32 channels of simultaneous recording you need HD hardware
so a HDN Thunderbolt is probably your best option then eather 3 HD I/O intefaces each loaded with 2 ADC cards for 48 analog in or the MADI box for 64 I/O if you can tap a MADI feed

HD software does not override the 32 channel cap if using Core Audio/ASIO interfaces

... and that's Pro Tools only ... ANY other DAW (even the free ones) will easily support as many tracks as your hardware allows.

But once you get into that kind of channel count and high end conversion, ie RME, SSL, REDNET, Apogee, etc... Your already in the same ball park... Why not just invest into a full integrated system that works and includes your DAW. I mean you have to like Pro Tools for this to e worthwhile but HD Native and HDX is in my opinion not that expensive when I consider my other options that offer similar results.

Basically if you buy into PT HD with enough tracks you get the software for free. And if you want to use 3rd party hardware for your tracks you're limited to 32 tracks even if you paid for the software in an unofficial way.

PT HD Native supports 64 tracks and is not that expensive. The cost comes from the interfaces (tracks).
