Editing duplicate clip alters original clip
Hey guys,
I recorded a short bass part, duplicated it (command+D) and slid it several bars over. I wanted to change part of the duplicate, so I did a punch-in. The punch-in on the duplicate region also manifested itself the original clip... is there a way to keep this from happening? It's driving me crazy. (This is my first post in any forum... ever... am I posting in the right place?) Thanks in advance!

Consolidate the duplicate to make it a new file.

Use "consolidate clips" (opt-shift-3 on Mac) to make the duplicate into a new file. Then you can edit the new file without affecting the old one.

Are you in destructive record? Punching into a track/clip should never alter the original clip unless you're using destructive.
