Are You Happy WIth The Mic Pres In your C24?

I just wanted some feedback on what you C24 users think of your mic pres. What have you ised them for and are you happy. I was thinking of getting a Universal Audio or Avalon Mic pre (Instead of recording vocals through the C24). How will it compare?

Definitley get the Avalon. I love having my Avalon and the C24. I also have the TL Audio C1. The C24 pres are really your staples. They are good for your bulk recording, and then use the Avalon for the critical stuff.
How do they compare?

Well comparing the C24 pres to the Mackie I replaced them with... GREAT!
I don't mind these where as with the Mackies I always felt short changed with whatever I recorded using the Mackies.

But still, I'd get the Avalon, and Universal if you got the $$$. The more hi-end mic pres the better. You have more color options when it comes time to track.

I have the C24 and the Avalon 2022. I use the avalon first then the pres in the C24 as a second choice. I am happy with this setup.

I have a Mackie 24.8, and a D8B. I'm about to replace the D8B with C24 to use with my new HD3 rig. I can continue to use the Mackie 24.8 pres and 8 bus out to the 192 I/O or use the C24 pres.

Anyone concur with the above opinion that C24 pre although not top quality is better than the Mackies ?

I agree. The C24 pres do sound better to me thank the Mackie's. No question.

But a rack of API's sound better than the C24 pres. of sourse the API's cost alot more $$$$.
