Default 6:9 movie loses format on import

I never seemed to have this problem, but whenever I am importing a video into a Pro Tools session in 16:9 format, it crunches it down to 4:3 and looks silly. Not very inspiring to compose to.

Any ideas?

I am on 7.4 LE

Thanks
Paul

Use QTpro or QTsync to change it. In some cases PT only seems to accept the change when using QTsync.

I have used both QT Pro and QT Sync.

In both cases the movie is converted from mp4 to DV Pal, and when opening the converted file within QT Pro and QT Sync it keeps the lovely 16:9 format.

Import it into Pro Tools and it is 4:3, squashed and looks silly.

I have clients coming it to look at their project. It looks horrible.

Any other ideas??

you don't have to convert it. Just open in QTsync hit "change aspect ratio" set accordingly then save as. it will save a referenced movie that should play fine in PT.

Having said that converting to DV wouldn't hurt since mp4 is not very good for working in PT.
