Upgrade Path For Pro Tools Vanilla Users
Pro Tools Vanilla users can also upgrade to Pro Tools HD standalone for the price difference between Pro Tools vanilla and the HD software and so this upgrade will cost $1899

i was wrong with this .. so maybe i am wrong with that as well ...

Core Audio fixed in El Capitan?

macOS Sierra supported?

More bug fixes?

I'm not doing handstands over the new features but hey, it's a step in the right direction I suppose.

I saw a RSPE ad showing that ANY interface will work with PT 12.6. That's off cause no news, but how about the track count, if you move out side of Pro Tools interfaces? Will you be able to track 64 inputs on PT HD Native with non-HD hardware, e.g. 4 x Apollo 16?

So did we get what we asked for?

Remember the HD license is definitely NOT transferable so pay $2500 and you are stuck with that investment ...
Well, the price of Nuendo is in the same ballpark. I guess it makes sense..

Don't forget the $399 a year support plan to get releases and updates on top of that $2500 .. But I guess it is a price point Avid has RND'd (I hope)

It's the "endless whining" of unsatisfied (read non-paying for pathetic upgrades) customers that help drive these corporate policy/price changes.....not those who sit, accept, pay anything and nod in amazement at such minuscule progression from a company that is supposedly the 'Industry Leader' .

So to all the 'whiners' out there....thank you!

Nuendo is $700 cheaper. Plus like Southsidemusic mentioned, there's no annual fee. I use Vanilla, and would consider upgrading for $999. Guess it just depends on what you need - HD rental is $999 per year, which to me is actually not that bad if you make your living using the software. I'll probably just stick with Vanilla and continue using Nuendo. I personally would not upgrade at all unless I was sure that the bug fixes were in place (especially the -9173).

More new features and advances in a point-release than we have seen in a while. I applaud many of them. Some do not excite me as much as others, and several that I was hoping for are absent, but the fact that the gates are open and progress is happening is a positive sign.

Guarded optimism, but optimism nonetheless.

Yes,I'm sticking with Nuendo as well, still no Folders, to organize tracks in, no built in conform, or ADR tools, and they still want to squeeze every last drop of cash out of us, my HD license expires end of December,so I still have time to decide, but these features are not that enticing to me personally,i do like the one machine HDX system for playback and record, but I can already do that with Neuendo, plus it is Dante enabled for more flexibility in I/O
BUT I still think Pro Tools is the best app for editing audio in, it took me a while to build macros in Neundo to do a lot of fast audio editing, customs fades, and moving regions around, and I really do hope Pro Tools keeps moving forward, I'm just not a fan of AVID
