USB Keyboard in Win 10?

Hi all,

I'm a Mac user of 15 years and I've got to do some work on a Lenovo laptop that has Windows 10 installed on it and I want to use a generic USB keyboard that has a number pad on it.

When I plug in the Keyboard into the USB 3 port or the USB 2 port nothing happens.
The keyboard works in OSX and in WinXp, Win 7 etc.

I've seen hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of posts on forums about not being able to use a USB keyboard in Win 10 but no solution for me.

I didn't realize that plugging in a USB keyboard in Windows 10 would require a level of expertise far greater than my level.

I've tried unistalling and rebooting the keyboard drivers in 'Device Manager' and I've had a look in the Bios to see if there's anyway of enabling legacy hardware....

If anyone can explain to me the 'holy grail' of how to plug in and use a USB keyboard then I'd appreciate it.

Weird, I use a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and Mouse combo, I didn't know there was an issue with USB keyboards....

You might want to try a Name Brand Keyboard....b/c they would have put some work into making sure it works in Win10

Make sure the keyboard works.
Reboot the computer.
Give Windows time to load the drivers for a new device..

The keyboard works in OSX and Winxp and Win7

Make sure power management is disabled on the usb ports.

No problems here; USB keyboard/mouse on Windows 10(my mouse is connected to the side of the keyboard)

Try a different USB keyboard? Try a different USB port?
