Default Unable to type C in Comments field

Seems like there might be a mini-bug in the Comments field in the Edit view. I try to type an upper-case C (using Shift-C on my keyboard), but PT 2018.1 (Native) won't let me. Workaround is to copy a C from e.g. Notepad and paste it into the comments field. I suppose it might be related to the new retrospective record feature, which relies on Shift-C to execute the command. Anyone else seeing this? (All other characters seem to work well.)

Try turning keyboard focus off in PT and see what happens.

Hi, I'm on Windows 10 (Fall Creator's update). Tossed pref's and created new session with blank non-audio track. Same problem, unfortunately. I discovered that when Caps Lock is engaged, the upper-case C appears normally, so it seems to be the Shift-C combination that is caught by an event listener that should have been disabled when editing in the Comments field.

I've experienced this bug on Windows for quite a while. It was confirmed by support during a call several months ago. In my experience comments can be entered as normal from the mix window and they can actually be entered on the edit window as well though it doesn't seem that way and it took a while for me to figure it out. In my case, in the edit window the cursor disappears over the comments field and entering info appears to do nothing but if I enter a phrase and then hit the *enter* key on my keyboard the phrase will actually appear in the field. My work around is just to flip over to the mix window to enter a comment.

Just re-read your post. I missed that most of the characters enter as expected. That's not the case for me. I see performance as I describe no matter what character(s) is entered.

Hi, thanks for input on this. However, that sounds like a slightly different issue (think I heard of it, can't recall I have had it myself, but could be). In my case all is well in the Comments field except when I try to type upper-case C. The Shift-C issue only appeared with 2018.1 for me (all good with 12.8.3, which it seems you are on). Would be interesting to know if other Windows users find the same with 2018.1.

Check the language layouts in PT and the OS:
