Default trashing prefs in PT12.5.2

I have been having a problem figuring out how to trash the prefs. in PT 12.5.2. My computer is a Mac OSX 10.9.5.
I tried to follow Avid's instructions:clicking (while holding down) the Finder/ then selecting go to folder. When it brings up "user/library" I then click on it but gives me the "not found" message. I thank you all for any help.

A user by the name Pete Gates has a free utility that'll do the job. Here's a link to his page with the utility: http://petegates.com/

Christopher, yes, I tried the Sweetwater steps and it takes me to the user/library option, I click on it and it gives me the" not found message."

You may want to try the Pete Gates utility

a belated thank you for all who offered suggestions. I haven't tried the utility yet but probably will. It seems like the PT 12.5.2 software should be capable of doing that as well, but maybe mine has a bug.
(In my old PT 6.1 that I used forever, it was a breeze to trash the prefs)

There isn't and never has been the ability of trashing prefs and databases from within PT.

Jack, this is what I was referring to.

Pro Tools 10 and below
Go to the Preferences folder and delete the following items:
com.digidesign.ProTools.plist
DAE Prefs
DigiSetup.OSX
Pro Tools Prefs
Empty your trash, then restart your computer.

But that's NOT from within PT - that procedure is completely outside the program and should NOT be done while PT is running. The Pete Gates utility will do the job no problem and is a lot easier to work with - you don't have to try and find any folders.
