Default Midi Drum Machine into Digi001

Hi:

I'm using an Alesis HR16 drum machine connected into the Digi box Midi in and out. I am using all four audio outs from the drum machine into Digi inputs 5,6,7,8.

I've programmed an entire song on the drum machine as a sequence and I want to record the midi and audio onto PT.

I have created a Midi track and four audio tracks. I have no problems getting the Midi to show-up on the Midi track. I record enable all of the tracks and press Record on PT. I see the audio signal coming into the four audio tracks and the Midi info coming into the Midi track. BUT I CAN'T HEAR THE SOUNDS while the recording is taking place?

Any ideas???

Can you hear those tracks on playback?
If not, make sure your the outputs of each track are set properly. Usaully this will be your main outputs 1&2. This should be the same for each track.

I hear them on playback. Not the Monitor button since when I press "play" on the drum machine, the sequence plays fine and I hear the drums through PT. It is only when I go into Record from PT.

markus,
Have you created a Stereo Aux. track for your Midi track? Just checking...

OK markus,
From what I understand the way you are trying to do this (whith just ONE Midi fader), I suggest you

1.make TWO Stereo Aux. tracks.
2. In your Mix Window, on the first new Aux. track fader, set it to inputs 5&6 (on the fader, it's the top small rectangular button. Hold it down, then 'interface', and set it to 'Analog 5&6).

3.Now, on the second new Aux. fader, do the same thing, but set it to 7&8.

4.Make sure the volumes on them are up.

Let me know if this works, and if you want, I'll explain how to make separate Midi faders to control things even more precisely.

The Aux tracks worked! I'm wondering why this is necessary given that the four outputs from the drum machine are already patched into four PT tracks. Why the need for Aux tracks as well?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">You have to have an Aux. track to hear your Midi stuff. You can see the Midi notes, but can't hear them without it.
