Thanks Ben.

Seems a stock score.

How does this number score translate with Metal & Opencore plus Xeon X5690 upgrade.

Found a good video. CPU score 13540

Those numbers are from Geekbench 4.

You can’t compare them to newer versions of Geekbench which I’m assuming is what Ben’s numbers have been generated from. The baseline’s change in each version.

Sorry, that was misleading; when I wrote 'my mini scores', I meant my model has that score in the Geekbench list.

10 4, just curious that's all.

definitely the 5,1 is a dinosaur, but it's still chugging along.

Wonder what the new numbers would be between them though?

^ yea that is amazing.

I still have HD3 system running on 2009 model (4,1) and while it would be upgradeable, why bother at this time. Just simply amazing it has been a workhorse for 14 years and still going strong (obviously parked at OSX 10.9.5 & PTHD 10.3.10).

Yea. My 3,1 (2008) is still sitting under my desk. Frozen in time with two bootdisks on PCIe card (so still snappy), Snow Leopard & High Sierra. Connected to my DAC via optical. Used value is almost nothing, so I'll just keep it. Comes in handy on occasion. Hope you're OK, Janne.

I guess we've derailed this thread plenty now. Sorry for that.

You both have been very insightful and very helpful.

I went all out on my 5,1 and was lucky to get the RX580 really cheap before the cat was out of the bag what you can do with them on the 5,1's.

Then the cards exploded in price a few years ago. Also upgraded to the X5690's.

The new MBA 15 looks impressive but wondering if PT will even run on it natively. It may be time to upgrade my 8,2 MBP from 2011 but I can wait for the M3. It seems AVID will get acquired by Sony, Apple or Guitar Center

It gives me hope that someone is still running PT on a 5,2 mac.

What do you mean “run on it natively”? Of course it will. It has the same M2 processor that will currently run Pro Tools and you can even upgrade the RAM to 24GB. It’s a viable production machine with only certain limitations of expandability for peripherals.

It is exactly same machine as 2022 M2 Air but with bigger screen. Very capable laptop.
