Re: Window Configurations
Hey thanks for the help guys. Yes, I've done it all and I have had success with floating windows. I still don't know what mem locs have to do with window configs. Before I'm re-recording MIDI to DA I wanted to have some configs when I'm using the same sound modules to save time instead of pulling from track bin. So I started with setting up a mix window config and saving as per all of your instructions, manual and videos. ie- kick, snare, hats, toms, etc and aux for sound module. This scenerio does not work unless I click and drag the size of the mix window with only the channels I want showing. Great. problem is when I want to go back to a full size mix window I have to max and then load from track bin. Not what I wanted. For now, I'll go back to what I've been doing and when I get all of my DA channels ready to mix, then I'll use window configurations. Still say .#* calls up window config number and ctrl+alt+J brings up window config window. As far as I know .#. is for memory locations. Thanks again guys, I'll leave you alone now. Ronnie Mac

Re: Window Configurations
Not sure what you mean by "max and then load from track bin." Do you mean showing hidden tracks?

Re: Window Configurations
this is from the manual, just an excerpt from chapter 31. lots of good info. we are not saying we want you to go away or anything else, but being rude to people who are trying to help you and about claiming you have been running pro tools xx years, which many of us have... and no one else is doing what your doing is not gona help peoples attitudes. feel free to ask questions but try the advice before writing it off. that is all i am saying. but here are some ideas of what our mem locations are capable of. All three types of Memory Locations (Marker, Selection, and None) can store and recall any combination of the following General Properties: Number Change the number to overwrite an existing Memory Location, or to reorder Memory Locations in the Memory Locations window. Zoom Settings Recalls the horizontal, audio, and MIDI zoom values for audio, MIDI, and Instrument tracks. Pre- and Post-Roll Times Recalls pre- and postroll times (but not whether they are enabled). This property can be stored with a Selection Memory Location to recall record and play ranges along with pre- and post-roll. Track Show/Hide Recalls which tracks are hidden. Use this property to display groups of tracks for editing and mixing. Track Heights Recalls all Track Heights. Use this option along with Zoom Settings to recall edit environments that are suited for particular tasks, such as editing down to the sample level or trimming MIDI notes. Group Enables Recalls which Edit and Mix Groups are enabled. This option is helpful in recalling groups for particular edit and mixing operations, such as muting all drum tracks or fading a stereo pair. Window Configuration Recalls a specific Window Configuration. This option is helpful in recalling specific Window Configurations to facilitate editing or mixing tasks. For more information on Window Configurations, see “Window Configurations” on page 123.

Re: Window Configurations
Try Memory Location Track Show/Hide General Properties, Window Configuartion Properties Window Layout and check 'Include Edit, Mix Settings'. Then check (link) Track Show/Hide properties with Window Layout properties to a 'None' Time Property Memory Location.
This will recall what you want. filosofem |
