Default Open PT no sync

Every time I open Pro Tools it has no sync "Your hardware does not have sync..." message. This started happening a few months ago and I can't figure out why.

I have an HD Omni and the orange EXT sync light starts to flash when I quit Pro Tools. When I open a session I get the sync error. I go to hardware and my Master clock is set to "Word Clock", I change it to "Internal" and everything is fine again. This happens every time and it's getting old.

I have updated PT software AFTER this started happening but no change.

Using PT Prefs utility? Or manually? It’s easy to miss the hardware prefs.

I would try following the instructions and do this manually see "Help us Help you" up the top of every web page, or get Pete Gates PT Prefs utility. The gold standard in managing Pro Tools preferences. And it's free and Pete hangs around here. Just to exclude any problems.

And an old post from pete (https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=407117_ make it look like hardware prefs are saved in ~/Library/Preferences/Avid/DSIPrefs which you can confirm by changing something in the Hardware settings and then moving or deleting that one file, or using the utility of choice and confirming the hardware settings return to default. I expect Digital rebellion to get that file, but a manual test is always great. If that's all happening then onto the next step (e.g. do you see this behavior when creating new empty sessions/not from a template?)

Thanks for your help. I just tried PT Prefs and no change. Exactly the same behavior. As soon as I quit PT the Omni EXT blinks and turns orange. I also noticed 48k changed to 44.1k. I don't have any digital in/out attached to the Omni, only analog. It's like as soon as PT quits the Omni forgets where it's at.

Close out of Pro Tools.
Go to Audio/MIDI Setup on your macOS.
Find the HDX/HD Native entry and change the clock there to internal.

The reason why this is happening is when you are outside of Pro Tools, macOS's Audio MIDI Setup is in control and changing the clock source.

BScout, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Darryl, Big thanks to you too for taking the time to respond.

The MIDI Setup is something I never even remotely thought of that was controlling my Omni.

Cheers,
Rikk
