Default RTAS Directory Path

Greetings All

Could someone be so kind as to tell me what the RTAS Directory Path is, please. I know that this should be done by default, but not all apps. do.

C:\Program Files...?

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins

will be fine for all plugins.
I think the other one just shortcuts back to this one.

C:\Program Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins is the old location from back in the 5.3 days. I beleive Pro Tools expects them to be in the new location, and the plugins may not function properly if they are in the old location. Somehow, some people (actually quite a few it seems) seem to have a shortcut in the old location to the new location.

I don't.

Maybe a particular plugin installs the shortcut?

I only use the Digirack, MPTK, igniton pack and a few other Digidesign plugins. And I have that shortcut in my folder in my new location. It'd be interesting to see when it actually is created. It's definately a Digidesign creation for me though...strange, but useful I guess.

No, neither do I, well what I should say is that that Plug-Ins Shortcut is located

C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools

Which when double clicked takes you to

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins

It seems that these Paths are reversed, Shawn, the Plug-Ins Shortcut actually takes you to the old location (where all my Plug-Ins are and are only located), not the Plug-Ins Shortcut located in the old location taking you to the new location.

What happened to uniformity?

You must be confused, that's pretty much what I said; C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins is the new (well, new since version 6.1, anyway...4 years new!) and proper location for plugins. Some people (including yourself) claim that there is a shortcut called "Plug-Ins" located in C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools which would make any plugin trying to install into C:\Program Files\Digidesign\Pro Tools\Plug-Ins (the old location) get installed into the new and proper location instead. It seems that somebody (maybe Digi, I dunno) is trying to achieve that uniformity you are referring to with this particular shortcut.

All I'm saying is that I don't have that shortcut. (I have LE and MPowered versions 7.1cs7)
