I've seen 2 bugs/issues that manifested similarly to this.

- One we narrowed down to running PT off a software RAID. When I moved to either an SSD, hardware raid, or single platter HD (yuck) it went away.

- The other was trickier and it has popped up a few times since, random waveform calculations seemed to get "corrupted" in some way and, particularly when using tab to transient on a group (clip or edit) it would slow down like this. Consolidating seemed to ALWAYS fix it, and recalculating the waveform overview / clearing wavecache would fix it sometimes, but not always.

One thing we didn't try is maybe doing a 0 gain audiosuite process on the offending clips and see if that fixes it? That way you could preserve your edits points.

I think I sent the details to avid a long time ago and they told me it was a corrupt file and not a bug.

Bingo. The second scenario you are describing is my scenario. Consolidate always fixes it. I guess I'm stuck with it unless Avid figures something out.

Just out of curiosity, would consolidating and then Undo the consolidating work?
