Check out the new DFH Superior coming out in the next few weeks. Use it via ReWire with ProTools. Pretty amazing stuff.

3 words: Reason, Reason, Reason.

My band mate and I are drummer-less at the moment, and over the past year that we've had our PT systems, we've been getting pretty acquainted with what Reason can do for drum tracks. And it still feels like I've just scratched the surface! That's the thing about Reason in general, so if you're checking it out, give it some time to learn what it can do.

One word of advice to anyone doing beats in Reason: Create your own samples. I recently just got Recycle to chop up my loops, then I bring them into Reason's Dr. Rex to program and manipulate. Even if you're just working with the stock sounds, you can do layer different sounds together to create something different. That's just a couple of different ways to work in Reason.

I'm sure there's other stuff out there that works great, but there's only so many hours in a day. Usually when I find something that works for me, I stick with it for awhile.

Ive been giving dfh superior some serious thought lately. It's that or reason and for strictly drums, it seems hard to beat.
