Default USB input versus actual MIDI input

Just curious if anyone has noticed a performance difference between using a keyboard with MIDI plugged into the USB port of a computer compared to actually using the MIDI port?

I currently use a PCR-50 plugged into the USB port with Reason and find that it misses a lot of key strokes.

Anyone else experience this? Thanks!

Hi Sean:

I would say you would most definitely want to have 2.0....and I would assume you do. What're your system details? I use Reason with usb 2.0 and it is absolutely flawless.....I'm pretty sure that it is faster than a MIDI port, buit not positive...don't have a MIDI port actually at all

Could the missed keystrokes have a different source? If you're on 1.1 I would say that is probably it....but just about all recent computers have 2.0 as far as I know...

Good luck!

Also take a look at the last post of This Thread....maybe sometimes MIDI is better after all. Didn't know that myself.
