Default Playlists view : anyone actually use it?

I always give it a go, and I always find it infuriating.

- The "Solo" button on each playlist isn't immediate! Ugh! It's like the solo buttons on the main page in Logic - ie horrible

- Elastic Pitch isn't adjustable on each playlist - you have to put it onto the "main" playlist in order to manipulate it correctly! Rubbish!

I use it all the time for comping vox. Using "Move Edit Selection Up and Down", combined with Shift-S for soloing (wish that was automatic!!!) and I can FLY through the available takes.

I use it often, with the shortcuts that Drew mentioned. One thing I REALLY WISH that Avid would implement though, is that the source track you have solo'd would automatically un-solo when you clicked back on the top target track. It's gotten me in trouble a few times!

Okay thanks, I'll persevere. Half of it's about developing the right muscle memory in the fingers I suppose.

Let us know how you get on. For me, it's been a massive time saver. You can comp things pretty much without using the mouse.

I use it quite much & love it; but I don't only use it when jus compin vocs, I use it regular to make my view better (to me) when putting all tracks on playlist view, IT LOOKS LIKE THIS giving me more separation of what I'm lookin @ on'eim...

I use it all of the time too to comp vocal takes also. I don't like using the "move selection up to main track comand" though as it leaves the the original on it's playlist. This makes it hard to go back later and know which playlist any selection on the comped track came from. I find that it makes the feature really quite useless.

Hey Werner they're all different colors even when u move them up to the main playlist, they keep their colors; the wave may look like a bag of Skittles but @least for me thatz how I kno what comes from what so I've never had that issue...

Drew,

For those of us with control surfaces, don't you find it's a better workflow to simply spill all vocal takes to tracks? Yeah, the actual cutting of the comp is fast with the playlist, BUT -- auditioning is hell.

I find the best and fastest and most flexible way to audition the comp is simply the old fashioned way -- 1 track = 1 fader and use your mutes and faders while listening.

I stopped using the playlist comp functions after just a few sessions -- the old workflow was simply more creative for me and my artists.

Just my $.02

J
