Default Benchmark DAC1?

How would be the best way to run this unit off my 192i/0? I would like to use this unit as my D/A for monitoring audio when I am mixing thru my Genelec 8040s. Also would I be loosing delay compensation with my Protools HD rig? Anyone using this with their Protools system with stellar results? Thank's.

I have it hooked up like this:

192 I/O (Enclosured AES/EBU) -> DAC1 -> Dynaudio BM9 Sub -> Genelec 1030A's

It works great. Make sure to flip the switch to "Variable" on the back panel. You don't want to blow your speakers. This mode lets you control output level with the front panel gain knob.

ADC works perfectly, no worries.

Ditto about it being great. Personally, I found the factory output gain setting to be inadequate when mixing without using a limiter across the mix buss. Thankfully, the gain can be adjusted by moving internal jumpers. I moved mine to the middle setting and am now perfectly happy. Check the manual for details.

First off, Thank you so much for your thoughts and insight on this soon to be new addition to my rig! Can anybody comment on how the unit sounds versus just using the 192i/o for the D/A? Also does the volume knob on the unit work well if you are going to use it for your main monitor level control?

Hi Durka,
I'm using a 192I/O with a Benchmark DAC-1 D/A also. I've had mine for about 2 years. I've made little marks along the face for my volume knob calibrations i.e. 85db for mastering, and various other monitoring levels when I'm tracking and mixing. Great piece of gear!!
