Question i couldn’t find an answer for: is it possible to reinstate from HD10 to studio? Or is it just HD—> ultimate or vanilla —> studio ?

The second.
If you are on HD, you can only stay at that tier.

HD = Ultimate = Flex, a.k.a. the most expensive tier.

If your friend has PT10HD license, my most sincere advise would be reinstating to current version (and keep renewing the support plan)

Yes I know, unfortunately money is an issue and shelving out more than 500€ for functionalities he doesn’t need is not possible (even if he could just get the studio reinstatement that would be a stretch but well)

The cost would be called "future proofing" as it becomes hard to find systems that run PT10 (and there are plenty of new things released since PT10 so it would not only be administratrive fee...)

It might be cheapest in the long run to buy a Studio Perpetual license, while you can still get one. The renewals will be cheaper over time if you don't need top tier Pro Tools.
