Default Aligning click tracks after ADAT transfer?

I am new to the board, and haven't had much time with Pro Tools LE 7.3, but my online searches did successfully lead me to transferring two groups of 8 tracks via the ADAT optical interface from my trusty old Fostex VF160 to PT. With everything in PT now, the second group of 8 starts slightly before the first group.

Now I need to line up the tracks and here's where my inexperience shows. I have two click tracks (one from each group of 8). I would like to manually line up the second group using the click track to the click of the first group. How do I go about doing this? If there are any helpful links, please post them.

Thanks!

The Pro Tools manual is your friend, but to get you started, first make sure you create a group in PT with your tracks by creating group 1 with the first 8 tracks and group 2 with the second 8 tracks so when you manually move, you will move all 8 tracks as a group. The keyboard shortcut for creating groups is "control g" . First select the first 8 tracks with the click by highlighting the track then hold the "shift" key to select the rest of the 8 tracks, then "control g" to create that as a group. Again the manual is your friend but this will help you get started.

  • make the two edit groups
  • place the cursor somewhere before the first click in the first group, tab to transient, and trim the region start to the insertion (with Commands Focus enabled it is the letter A)
  • place the cursor somewhere before the first click in the second group, tab to transient, and trim the region start to the insertion
  • select the first group by clicking it once with the grabber tool (it should be highlighted)
  • with the first group selected, Ctrl-click the second group of regions to snap their region start to the insertion point

Bawls, I didn't notice that this is a Windows forum. Ctrl on a Mac means Start on PC?
