2022 PT and M1 Apple Silicon

Just finished getting my Mac Studio Ultra happy with 2021.12.1. It's working very well so far. I'm curious how the new 2022 P Tools is working on M1/Apple Silicon. I don't want to install it until I get some reassurance that it works. Any reports from the battlefront? I'm especially curious how it works with virtual instruments. Thanks

It works but I'm having more crashes than before, which seem mostly to do with various plugins in my system. The updates are worth it regardless.

2022.4 running fine on my Mac Studio!

Major issues with CPU usage.
Sessions with zero plugins loaded are running at high CPU levels when AUX sends are used.
Tested and confirmed by multiple users.

Fascinating! Have you had the issue with Aux sends? And I'm wondering how many Aux sends trigger the blow up.

I've also heard rumours of extreme weirdness with virtual instruments, which I worry about.

I guess I'm also curious which Apple Silicon machines this stuff happens with.

Rename you Pro Tools application to Pro Tools 2021.12. Install Pro Tools 2022.4 (and rename the app to Pro Tools 2022.4). You will the two different versions available.

Well that's a fun idea. I wonder if you get two different sets of preferences etc?

I must really say I am a bit perplexed.

I have a big session that's barely hanging on in 2022.4. Stopping every other minute because it's a heavy session with plugins and lots of sends and parallell stuff. In 2021.12 it kinda was possible to work with. But a lot of hangups there too.

For fun I downloaded version 2021.3.1 just to check.
And the session is at 50-60% CPU !

No problems what so ever!

I'm baffled !!
