Default Advice for Mix 24 plugins -upgrading to HD next year

Hi all.

Seems like a good group here and I've lurked long enough, I'm hoping some of you can help me out.

I have "cobbled together" with a Mix 3 system, actually a mix core and 6 mix farms. Am looking to put together a decent enough collection of plug ins to work with until I can spring for the HD upgrade.

So far I have the included PT 6.41 digi plugs + Focusrite D2, D3, Drawmer Dynamics, Amp Farm 2.4, Reverb One, BF-2A, Virus, and Echo Farm. I would really appreciate it if I could get some feedback on what you all thought would balance this collection of plugins out without breaking the bank - that will happen next year.

I have a couple UAD-1 cards which I love, but found the 1.07 VST/RTAS wrapper performance in PT 6.4 pretty CPU intensive (the VST/RTAS 2.0- PT7 combo is a lot more efficient). Trying to stay away from RTAS except when essential (sound replacer, etc) due to the limitations of even a fast G4 (dual 1.87).

Was thinking about the Eventide Anthology bundle even though I wouldn't be able to use several of the included plugins, I need a good channel strip and am interested in H3000/Band delays as I used to have an H4000 back in the day.

Anyway thanks for any input.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Anthology II bundle. Just remember that you cannot use Reverb and Octa/Quadravox with MIX, those require HD chips. You would however be able to use the wonderful EQ45, EQ65 and E-channel plugs as well as the H3000 and Clockworks legacy stuff. Just go for it

McDSP stuff is really great. It's versatility alone makes it definitely worth considering if that's going to be your bread and butter. I've also found their customer service to to be good... which is helpful in a pinch. If you're looking for a bundle, perhaps you should check out something like the McDSP Classic Pack .

Good luck!
