Default Lost CD audio playback after upgrade to 9.0.4

I have a 9500 with Sonnet G3/500 upgrade card running a Pro Tools TDM system.
I have an internal Smart & Friendly CD burner. Before the upgrade (using OS 8.6),
I could play audio CDs and hear them through the Digi hardware. Since the upgrade,
I try to play the CD and the disc never goes. The clock on the CD audio software never starts turning.
I can still burn and extract with Toast. CD-ROMs mount and read fine.
Has anyone heard of such a thing??
