Default MTRX Studio using Dante only

I am planning an Atmos 7.1.4 studio build, potentially using the MTRX Studio as an interface and monitor controller. Currently using primarily Pro Tools and HDX in a Mac Pro 5.1, but want to also be able to also use Logic via Dante connection via Dante Virtual Soundcard, and easily switch between both DAW's.

Is this possible with the MTRX studio? Or does it need to be a Digilink interface only?

I am aware that I can potentially use Logic via HDX hardware, but just need to confirm whether a Dante only connection will work on the MTRX Studio for flexibility.

Thanks

What you are planning is possible but for the LOVE OF GOD do not use DVS.
Latency is a pain with DVS.

Buy the Focusrite Rednet PCIER card.
It is excellent.

There are quite a few of us using them, I am using mine with the full fat MTRX.
The MTRX Studio is capped at 64 channels over Dante, where my MTRX has 192 Dante channels and can be expanded further.

Using the HDX Core Audio driver is unbearably bad too in terms of latency.

Also look at the Focusrite Red 16 Line.

Thanks for the extra info, James. 64 channels over Dante is sufficient. Not planning to run dedicated renderer at this time.

I was already also looking at Focusrite Red 16Line (since it has Thunderbolt 3, Digilink, and Dante) along with the R1 for a monitor controller. Just weighing the pros and cons of each when switching between Pro Tools HDX and Logic Native.

+1 for the Focusrite Rednet PCIe card. I’m using as the interface for Logic or Abelton Live to pipe audio into an MTRX Studio and Pro Tools via Dante. It’s working flawlessly with the added bonus of using it for Mac audio into the MTRX.

DVS can get messy especially when changing sample rates and the latency is horrible.

OK cool.
I reviewed the R1 actually:

The Red 16Line only has 32 Dante channels, that might or might not be an issue for you. It was why I moved to the MTRX.

Ok, thanks Dave and James.

It looks like either option (MTRX Studio or Red 16Line / R1) would work fine for my needs. I prefer the hardware remote of the R1, but it seems like the MTRX has more flexibility in routing plus monitor tuning and bass management features.

Mostly I just want whichever system is more stable when using either Pro Tools or Logic since each require additional control software running along side the DAW.

I have the DAD MOM (2 of them actually) here.
The R1 is excellent and the labelling is great but I don't have an issue with the MOM's.
They are excellent and freely programmable.
I have no regrets going for the MTRX/MOM combo esp with the Rednet PCIER card.
I will likely be selling my Red16 Line as it simply doesn't get used anymore.

Here's a 'home studio tour' Andrew Masters did of Axis Studio. They are using MTRX Studio with a Focusrite PCIe Dante card for 7.1.4 Atmos and Pro Tools and talk about their setup in detail.

I also have the full MTRX and recently switched to Dante and DVS. The latency uptick isn't too bad, but since I don't have HDX, if I wanted to use the Focusrite Rednet PCIe card I'd need to get a PCIe expansion chassis.

Or is there another solution to bypass DVS?

I’ve not used it but there’s this:
