Cool Digi 001, Mac OS 10.3.9, DigiCore Audio Manager 6.9

do i need to update my OS from 10.3.9 to 10.4.

since i have digi 001 and haven't installed 10.4, is this why i can't hear the "internet" through my digi 001?

i do have a copy of OS 10.4 i can install.
will this help or make things worse?!

OR is this more of a DIGICORE AUDIO problem
thanks!

You need to back grade to 10.3.7. DO NOT upgrade to 10.4. I'm going by memory here but I think 10.3.8 is the very last OS that will work with an 001 and 6.4

10.3.9 should be fine - we've seen no problems with it.

Have you set your Sound control panel to play through Digi HW? If not - please do so.

If you currently have it set to Digi HW and are not hearing playback from 3rd party applications, do you possibly have Pro Tools launched? If so, that's the problem - if Pro Tools is launched it has exclusive use of the hardware.

If you don't have Pro Tools launched and Sound is set to Digi HW and you're still not hearing anything, try this:

Quit out of all open applications.

Trash the following preference files:

1. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist (delete this file)
2. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist (delete this file)
3. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > com.digidesign.CoreAudioManager.plist (delete this file)
4. Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences > ByHost > com.apple.systempreferences.xxxxxxxxxxxx.plist (delete this file)

Empty the trash, restart and let me know if it's working or not.

If that doesn't help, please let me know which drivers you have in the folder located at MacHD>Library>Audio>Plug-Ins>HAL.

Is my memory that bad, I thought the version of quicktime that came with 10.3.9 did not play nice with PTLE 6.4

Yeah, anything above quicktime 6.5.2 and your toast.
