xp10 midi and reason (or any other midi app)
i am having problems getting my old roland xp-10 to control reason, or any other soft synth app. I have tried running the midi from the xp-10 to the onboard sound joystick controller (asus a7v333), but that didnt work. Now i am trying to run the xp 10 into the digi midi ports, but still no go. I am a mididiot and simply want to be able to use my second computer as a soft synth, but i need to get midi figured out first.

Re: xp10 midi and reason (or any other midi app)
i know that there are hundereds of midi users out there. i know that they at some point have probly had some sort of problem getting midi to function. i need to get midi to function and am having problems and i hope that somebody that has had problems previosly can help out.
I know that some folks are like me though and once they get their midi setup...they dont change it. Well my midi worked fine for a long time, but i upgraded my machine and am trying to get it to work again...in apps i have never used it before. Please help. Christian |

Re: xp10 midi and reason (or any other midi app)
Dont mind me, i'm just talking to myself hoping that one day...somebody that knows anything about midi may say...look here is how i hook up midi. It may take weeks or even months, but i am sure there is at least one person on this board that uses midi with reason via the 001 midi interface.

Sorry Christian. I'd help, but I don't use reason or roland's. Good luck getting an answer.

everything you need to know should be right there. just replace references to hubi's loopback with your midi ports. if you're running reason on a separate computer, the idea is the same. * controller midi out > 001 midi in * 001 midi out > reason computer's gameport midi in for best results: * PT analog out 1/2 (not monitor out) to mixer * reason computer's soundcard outs to mixer remember, you can only monitor midi when midi thru is enabled AND you rec enabled your midi track... Re: xp10 midi and reason (or any other midi app)
Thanks guys for responding. I was about to ask digi if they could make my thread sticky. I thought that in a couple of weeks it could be as long as the allenstud machine, but with just me talking.
Anyway, found my problem. i was using my onboard sound, and for some reason i could not find a driver to install the joystick controller. This whole time i was trying to run midi into an uninstalled joystick port. i couldnt find a driver so i plugged in my old sb live and midi worked like a champ. D'Bas, thanks for the link i think it will come in handy if i get to that point, but i was simply trying to get my reason working again with midi. Thanks guys, and i think i am done talking to myself. Christian |
