Default Sound Designer 2.83 simple question?

Hi I am running Sound Designer 2.83 on a dual G4 1gig Quicksilver with OS 9.2.
I have it set to display the wave in the overview display with the moving bar.

My Question:
Does the waveform display window scoll during playback?
There is an option in the setup menu for "scroll after play" which I have checked but the wave in the display window does not scoll.

I am working with SD II for the first time.
I know this is very old software but I would like to learn to use it to create simple acurate edits which I hear SD II is good for.

Thanks for any help.

SDII does not have a real-time scroll feature.

The "Scroll After Playback" function simply updates the waveform (i.e. 'jumps' to) to the place in the file where playback stops.

You should be able to use PTFree. It may be able to do what you need.

Thanks!!!

Can I ask one more question?

Is there any way to leave Overview display set to display the wave form all the time?
Every time I exit SD II or open up a new wave I need to OPTION + CLICK to set to display wave instead of time format.

Thanks for your response in advance,

Darren

I don't remember a pref for that (and don't have a system in front of me to check). It takes time to compute the waveform, which is probably why it defaults off for new files. I'll try to check soon on existing files, since I thought they retained their settings.

Hi,

Just seen this thread : we still use SDII a lot! There isn't a Preference, but if one records a short piece of audio, Option Click to get an Overview, delete the audio then save the file as a template, SDII will calculate the Overview whenever audio is recorded into the template. I save the template as a Stationery Pad (pre-OSX system, of course!), so it forces me to write a new file each time I record anything - complete with the auto-calculated Overview!

My pleasure! I'm very impressed that you are still providing valuable support for these old (and sometimes sorely missed) products.
