I must say the deals at MacMall are worth pondering. The 2.5Ghz MBP for $1449 is probably the best deal on there, but even the 2.4Ghz for $1299 is a steal...

Thanks for all the great responses. Looks like the new Macbook White has firewire and upgraded to 4Gz Ram would do the trick.
