Default Windows behaviour in PT11.3.1

The transport bar specifically, but other windows (plug-ins, dialogues etc.) all are exhibiting strange behaviour when moved around within pro-tools, i.e they seem to lose focus and disappear behind the main window when moved even at very slow speed.

I have done extensive virus/malware checks but nothing showing up from Avast!, Malwarebytes, Superantispyware. I have also run Winthruster to detect registry errors, system is clean.

The problem only affects pro tools (11.3.1), other apps running on the PC do not malfunction.

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Intel Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9650 @3.00GHz

8.00GB
64bit

Any remedies Doctor?

well, I'm not a doctor(but I DID stay at a Holiday Inn last night), but with a system this old, it could be lots of things If you have anti-virus on this computer, I would try removing it(and anything else running in the background that does not NEED to be running). It might also be worth opening the case and re-seating every card and connector. Also would check for updated drivers for everything(especially the graphics card)

Yeah your GPU make sure it's up to date and powerful enough

All optimization have been done and windows update is turned off, along with all the automatic scanning of virus/malware in the background

aha thanks Doctor Dave, I have updated the graphics drivers but Avast is running, I'll try halting it and anything else that might be conflicting. It is only a recent problem though, the system has always been quite stable,I am running Addictive Drummer 2 live and multiple instances of RAM heavy plug-ins such as Waves Tune but the resources meter in PT is within acceptable limits, so I don't think it is a RAM issue...

I tend to think there is malware somewhere on my system that isn't being picked up by the various Wehrmacht divisions of protection, I just wondered if anyone else had experienced the same symptoms and if so how to zap the infiltrator

hmmm I reckon you might have nailed it

Having a similar problem on OSX and 11.3.1. Started a post the other day about it and got no answers, and then saw this thread so it's good to know I'm not completely alone. It's definitely driving me bonkers trying to edit with any flow. Any pop up/dialogue window/audiosuite render takes the focus off my edit window and I have to select somewhere on it to get focus back and move on with editing.
Really hating that nothing can sit on top of the video window too.

Maybe 11.3.2 would fix this...too bad I have to buy PT12 to get it.

Windows 8 solved a lot of that kind of stuff for me.
