Crossgrade to 2021 and access to older versions?

Does anybody know, if i upgrade to a subscription plan via Avid's crossgrade which means i have to give up my perpetual license, will i still have access to the version i am running now, in case things go south. currently running 2019.10 in Mojave. Could not verify this info anywhere.

When you crossgrade to a subscription plan, your perpetual license will be converted to a subscription license. If you stop your subscription, you will no longer have your perpetual to fall back on.

thx for the quick reply. And yes i know i will have to give up my perpetual but will i still have access to the version i am on now. meaning if 2021.6 gives me problems can i jump back down to 2019.10. again understanding that i am on a sub now. or does the Subscription start at 2021.6 with no access to earlier versions. sorry if im not making myself clear.

Chris, I'm pretty sure that the subscription license is tied to a particular version, so no, you would not be able to run 2019. Your best bet would probably be to download the trial version of PT, which is usually pretty up to date and see how it runs on your system. Then you can decide if it is worth the crossgrade.

Aha! In that case, I would probably try the 30-day demo and not risk your current license

Hey Will,

I did the crossgrade and everything running really smooth on my rig on 2016.6. I see 2016.6 in my Avid account but in my Ilok account im still running the demo. When Avid says i have to give up my Perpetual license and then I will see my new Sub for 2016.6, does that mean i just Deactivate my Perpetual license from my Ilok account? How does one give up their perpetual license?

I'm on subscription and I've used the various versions that work for me. These are available in the download center in your account.
Any version that can works with the iLok cloud (PT12 and up I believe).
