5.1 encoder??

is there an encoder that is used by Pt hd? or do you still have to have Dolby or THX come out and let you "barrow" the encoders? reason is this. i have a 5.1 project, but i have always give the customer the audio files on a DA-88 descreat in the dolby configuration. now they want me to encode it. can PTHD do that??

Here are two options:

Kind of Loud makes a plug-in called Smart Code Pro. They have several flavors that will do Dolby Digital and DTS encoding.

Apple's DVD Studio Pro includes a free utility called A.Pack. It will do AC3 encoding.

I've gotten similar results with both. Of course, if you want an authoring application as well, DVD Studio Pro is the obvious choice.

Thee fly in the ointment is if this is a film. The plugins don't get you a liscence for film work. I believe they cover non theatrical releases, mutimedea stuff.

the only way to get a Dolby Printmaster made is to have them come out-
It's part of the Licensing/Film creation. what they do is create a 5.1 AC3 file plus a Dolby SR encoded LtRt Limited to +12dB from your 5.1 Mix. This is recorded to a Dolby MO, which is a proprietary format and cannot be read by Mac or PC computers. Hope this answers your question.
