Memory Install Strangeness
I bought a 512 DDR 2100 stick of memory, Kingston. I put it in my MOBO, a 512 DDR 2100 Crucial stick was already in there. Memory test passed with 1 gig showing and system booted up. But it kept shutting down during Sysmark 2001. Then I treid to launch PT and it had a fatal error during start up. Rebooted..checked BIOS... checked Sytem / Hardware.... Rebooted same problem.
Hmmmmmm. So I moved the Kingston to another slot. Same deal. Then I pulled the Crucial and the Kingston and double checked they were the same. Then I put the Kingston in where the crucial had been and the system Worked fine. Then I put the Crucial where the Kingston had been on the first attempt...... Worked fine. Can someone tell me why? It is working great now. It showed up every time correctly on start, sysmark and in BIOS. I'm just confused. Thanks, John |
