Unhappy Windows 7 firewire problem with digi002 rack

Hi all,
I'm trying to connect my digi002 rack with Win 7 home premium 32bit system. I have PTLE 8.03 installed, and Mbox 2 mini works fine. But with the digi002 rack, the firewire is not working. The firewire driver is recognized in the device manager, but there is no green light on the rack's 1394 LED. Also, my external hard drive via firewire is not showing up on my computer, so I know this is a firewire issue. I tried switching to Legacy driver from device manager, but it didn't do anything. The firewire is Texas Instrument. Could anyone help me out with this issue?

Thanks,

Sandra report:

First thing to do is plug the 002 into another system to verify that it works. Since nearly all 002 units have, or will suffer, the power harness issue, you need to eliminate that as the problem. As for the drive, how is it formatted? If its FAT32, that might be the problem as FAT32 support is going away(but I can't say for sure if that's the problem here, just a possibility).

Video System
Video Adapter : Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family (8 SP 400MHz, 8MB DDR2, Integrated Graphics)

Onboard graphics has been a potential trouble spot too.

Did you HOT-SWAP the firewire cable? It will destroy the fw controller in the 002.

Also try swapping cables.

Certainly try swapping cables, but turn EVERYTHING off first!!!
And look at your serial number. The LAST FIGURE is a letter.
A thru G units were just about guaranteed to have the harness issue.
H and later units apparently didn't.

Didn't I read somewhere about using legacy drivers?

Thank you everyone for the reply... The digi 002 works on the Mac so I know it's a working device. I tried switching the cable but didn't work. My hard drive is recognized through usb connection on the pc so the drive itself is fine.

There's a red flag that WILL cause you problems once you get THIS one cleared up. USB drives are not supported in Pro Tools.

Actually I'm not using the usb external hard drive for protools. It's just for back up purpose. I use internal hard drive for saving sessions and audio, and back it up on the external.

Select legacy drivers for Firewire in the Hardware setups in W7, then it works!!
