Default Slave MPC 5000 to PT9.06 via Beat Clock - timing drifts when looping

Dear all,

I am having an issue with sync'ing the MPC5000 OS2.0 to Pro Tools 9.06

Have followed the instructions on avid/akai website, the sync works and by adjusting the offset by 2700 samples I can a close to perfect sync.

Issue is the following: I have a selection, lets say 4 bars, looped in Pro Tools. The first rounds the timing is sport on, as soon as the 3rd round of the looping sycle starts the timing falls out, then on the 4th it locks back into sync.

Hope somone can point me to a fix for this: please do not that MTC synch is not an option as it requires as it requires a bar or two to establish sync. Not apporpirate in my setup..

Thanks,

H.

beat clock is a "look at it once then go" system . it's not "re syncing" when you loop playback. . . it ain't gonna happen. . . unless, maybe, the sync-lock will do it

http://innerclocksystems.com/

I use this to lock a JP8 to Tools. .Thats with DIN SYNC though. . But midi beat clock, I don't know. .
Check 'em out though . .

ok, I have ordered a sync lock box lets see if this will help. It promises zero latency sync and the new software is meant to do transport control. To me that means i can stop at anypoint and it will continue at any point! I dont see how thats going to work but I am hopeful! Maybe somone from innerclocksystems can clarify?

Guys,

just a note on that innerclock sync clock. It has not solved my sync problem with the mpc 5000.

The mpc still drifts +/- 15 samples and when hitting play the first note is delayed coz it takes a moment for it to lock in.

Worst of all is that its only synchs 6 out of 10 times when i hit play. So the jitter/latency seems not be be fully stable.

I have tried downgrading MPC to OS 1.1 to see if its any better and have also tried another MAC system. Just checked it on was a Mac Pro 4,1 quad, same issue as on a Macbook Pro.

This is very much my last attempt at syncing mpc with PT for a live type situation. I am back to tracking the audio and nudging it manually !

H.
