Default Behringer BCF 2000, does it work with LE8?

I've been reading extensively about the pros and cons of purchasing a BCF2000, and I guess that for the money, on a poor man's budget, I can't go for any better. the unanswered question yet is, does it work well with LE8? I hope it does.
thanx a lot for your time on tihs. BTW, I've opened the Machine Control options, and I get no one in the list. Do I have to update the dlls or anything like that to get PT ready for Mackie HUI?

BTW, you're looking in the wrong place.

You want Setup->Peripherals-> MIDI Controllers

Yes it works with PT8. Go to the behringer web site and there will be exact instructions for using it with Pro Tools. I assume you have it hooked up via USB so basically you need to load the drivers, turn on the BCF hold down the fifth button from the left on the top row until it displays BHui, go into pro tools, click Setup choose Peripherals, then Midi controllers. Under type choose HUI, then under recieve from choose BCF2000, under send to, choose Bcf2000 (emulated).

Its not a bad choice for a control board it you dont mind not having a jog wheel or text under each fader.

Will it or any of the other 3rd party controllers still allow adjustments(mutes solos, fader moves) while actively "bouncing to disk"?

No. Not even the Digidesign control surfaces, or even for that matter the mouse, can do that.

While bouncing, all interaction is locked out.

NOoooo. I wonder why they killed it in LE 8.0? I know Mackie Control worked during BTD in 7xx. Maybe it was just one of those "good bugs" in the software.

I stopped using 'BTD' a while ago - if you want realtime control while you bounce just route everything to a mix bus on a spare audio track then 'Export File as...' from the regions menu after the recording pass. You then have full control over your mix with your control surface while you record.

Another bonus of doing it this way is that if you then decide the guitar solo or whatever is too quiet, just drop in over the solo section after tweaking the level - no need to do a complete run through again.

I'm thinking of going over to a pair of BCF2000's myself - I'm currently using an Alphatrack which is great for tweaking single tracks (esp. with the plug-in/EQ controls) but it's pretty useless for mixing - I miss my desk faders!

Talking Re: Behringer BCF 2000, does it work with LE8?

Cool info.. But I usually automate what I need done, its easier. recalls are also easier vs remembering what you did.

I just used the MC features at BTD when i'm doing rough mixes to burn to cds. No biggie.

Thanks

Well guys, thanks for your reply. YES! It is fully compatible with LE8. I've just installed it, and in less than 20 minutes I was scared to death by the sudden motion of the faders into place as I opened a project the first time! It took me a while to understand its functions (I had never had a control surface before), but I found at Behringer's website a PDF with a map of the buttons, faders, and knobs in Baby HUI emulation mode. http://www.behringerdownload.de/BCF2...tion_modes.pdf I also downloaded the Baby HUI Users Guide just to be sure www.mackie.com/pdf/BabyHUI_UG.pdf. I am thrilled by this machine. It's a lot of stuff for the money you pay. I paid $175.00 brand new in South America.

P.S. The mouse is the worst audio edition tool ever to have existed!!!

I'd have to totally disagree with you. Some things are still easier with the mouse/keyboard.
