I always thought the HD (Lending itself to HIGH DEF) was a marketing term...as we all well know, you can do audio for an "HD" video on a TDM system

TDM= Too Damn Much
HD= High Dollar
LE= Less Expensive

I'm here all week...try the veal...tip your waitress.

I'm curious though, if there was a bet going on, what were the to opinions as to the meanings?

In reality, I think TDM is the only one that's a real acronym...Time Division Multiplexing. HD has always been assumed to mean Hi-Def in this context, but I don't think that's really an absolute given. It could mean "Hey Dude" or "Hot Damn" or something like that. Scholars assert that the meaning has been lost for centuries.

HD is high definition because that's when they added support for sample rates greater than 96khz (certainly) but I believe even above 48khz.

888|24 Specifications
