I always thought the HD (Lending itself to HIGH DEF) was a marketing term...as we all well know, you can do audio for an "HD" video on a TDM system

TDM= Too Damn Much
HD= High Dollar LE= Less Expensive I'm here all week...try the veal...tip your waitress. I'm curious though, if there was a bet going on, what were the to opinions as to the meanings? In reality, I think TDM is the only one that's a real acronym...Time Division Multiplexing. HD has always been assumed to mean Hi-Def in this context, but I don't think that's really an absolute given. It could mean "Hey Dude" or "Hot Damn" or something like that. Scholars assert that the meaning has been lost for centuries. |

HD is high definition because that's when they added support for sample rates greater than 96khz (certainly) but I believe even above 48khz.
