There does seem to be evidence that the separate driver installer is problematic, at least for some.

I had the same issue. Luckily I kept doing different things amd it finally stuck.

UPDATE *This has been recorded as a bug with the 2021.10.0 HD Driver.

Current workarounds are to disable SIP.

Hey all,

The HDX driver in my machine doesn’t seem to be loading on launch, I have to launch it manually after boot.

I’ve followed the instructions found here:

ok...don't laugh. (uninstall HD driver. restart.) And this is the don't judge me part...

what i did was open security. open the lock. leave it open and system preferences running. install HD driver. It didn't ask for the OK prompt.

Restart Mac. then it worked on reboot since then.

Mine setup worked fine for a few days but today I went to lunch for several hrs and the computer went to sleep today. I came back to a broken system… no HDX driver in audio midi showing up …

Same issue, has completely messed up our Dubbing Theatre, right before a teaching session. Trying my best to get it working with minimal time and students waiting, most embarrassing.

I decided to roll the dice and install the hd driver that is included within the actual pro tools installer. I did not uninstall the previous driver first though.

So far no issues for me.
