Drives not mounting on restart!?!?

replacing some old audio drives on my Mac Pro... when I start the computer no issues... if I restart the drives don't mount, I have to turn it off turn on again and they mount no problem... can't find an answer anywhere... anybody?
they are WD Black 4TB.

any errors or messages come up ?? a Circles with a Slash through it .. ?? how full are the drives ?? when did this start ?? did you do anything ;ike an OS update ot PT update ??

no, no errors, drives are about half full, no updates on PT or OSX...

From PT on XP to PT 12 on W10 and probably 10 WD Caviar Black drives on 3 computers - with and without PT - I've never had that issue happen. Of course, now that I've said that...

I used to use the WD black drives but never recall that issue. I did have a lot of problems with Missing drives that caused me to roll back El Capitan. When I got my new mac pro in January I went straight to a clean install of Sierra and no issues. I have several of the Lacie Porsche drives connected and they are flawless and have up to 8TB if you store a lot of stuff. I would recommend those if you decide to upgrade. Quiet, look really cool and you can stack en 3 high which makes it very space efficient. I have 5 connected...

I have went through 150+ of these drives the last few years. I have had problems with maybe 4-5.

Do you see them on disk utility when they aren't mounted by any chance ?

Also double check your cable conections .

Same issue with 2 WD Black 4TB drives here. Yes, it's s a known issue on both Mac and PC. They only mount after starting the computer not after a re-start.
aonly happens with the 4TB and up afaik.
