PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
hi
just got PT9 - upgraded from PT8 LE - and was psyched to be able to use it with either my 002 rack or my m-audio fw410. a bit disappointed that i cannot get 9 to recognize either one! running a brand new mac book pro 17" i7 w/10.6.5, using a fw800-fw400 cable. installed the current 002/003 drivers for 10.6 and the current driver for the fw410. uninstalled and reinstalled. digi 002 was on and connected when drivers & pt were installed. stumped. any ideas? thanks bruce

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
In the exact same boat, PT9, Macbook 15" hooked up to my trusy 02. My error message reads "PT could not initialize current playback device...."
I've been through Audio/Midi setup and System Preferences, and Digicore.... Restarted a couple times... Any help appreciated, if someone could provide a step by step, that would be Ideal. ...What's the deal with the agrigate I/O Vs. OO2 I/O? I'm so used to having it just ... Work! |

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
Because PT 9 will work without any PT hardware, on your first time set up you will need to go Setup->Playback Engine and select 002

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
well, i guess i neglected to mention that PT9 will not launch at all. i get the error message: "Pro Tools could not initialize the current playback device. Please make sure that the device has been configured correctly." when i hit OK Pro Tools quits.

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
Did you guys install the PT9 drivers for your 002 from the Avid-site?

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
U shouldn't install the drivers whilst the units are connected (on).. Install while off, then power up after install...
& ur certain u got THESE drivers rite?

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
I had the same issue when loading pro tools for the first time on my new imac. After much frustration I found out that the imac has had a bad batch of fire wire inputs in some units. I had to have it replaced but now pro tools recognizes my 002.

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
if you check my original post above you see the steps - installed all new drivers, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. installed drivers with 002 on and connected and off and disconnected, etc. my fw port works just fine with everything else. BTW, there is disagreement on whether the 002 should be ON or OFF during install, hence my attempt with both.
grrrr b

Solution!?
Hey man, I got it working;
Installed drivers, Restarted, Audio/midi setup - Selected 'Pro tools aggregate' and checked all the I/O boxes (built in mic, built in input, built in output). I de-selected these off the bat because I never intended to use them, but there ya go. I've just got PT loaded, and havnt checked the '02 yet - But Ill post again if any more problems arise. Cheers. |

Re: PT9 won't recognize Digi 002 Rack
While the ProTools splash screen is loading hold down the 'n' key until you are presented with a Hardware selection dialogue.
At the top you should be able to select the DIGI002(R) if it isn't selected already. Alternatively you may find the ProTools Aggregate I/O as an option. I have my DIGI002R selected in my configuration and it is working fine. Now if anyone has any suggestions about getting the same hardware working under Windows 7 via Bootcamp on the same machine I'd appreciate it because at the moment all ProTools sees is my BlackMagic Designs Intensity card's audio I/O and doesn't see the DIGI002R at all Windows 7 does see it and I can select it as part of the Windows audio hardware. Obviously ProTools is better running under Mac OSX but occasionally I need to go to the darkside (Windows) and to have ProTools there and operating if I need it would be useful... it worked fine with ProTools 8.0.4 |
