Upgrading IOS for PT 12
Hi Folks,
I purchased Pro tools 12 when it was still possible do so and am running it on a 2015 Macbook pro. I have kept the same IOS (El Capitan, 10.11.6) since I bought the software since upgrading IOS in previous versions of PT caused massive issues. I'm reaching the point where to do other functions, particularly with Live streaming, I need to move to a higher IOS but am deeply concerned that it will create issues with older files and new ones. I tried searching the Avid site for info on this, but didn't find anything that could indicate what level IOS PT 12 still worked at. Can anyone shed any light on this?? Thanks very much! |

Re: Upgrading IOS for PT 12
PT12 is not supported past High Sierra. Compatibility info here. If you need a current PT version, you need to be on active Support and Update Plan.
Problem is, Avid stopped selling "reinstatement" (of support and update plan) last year so you need to find a dealer that still has old stock. If not, your options are crossgrading to subscription or buying a new license. Do not buy "renewal" (of support and update plan) if you do not have active plan currently.

Re: Upgrading IOS for PT 12
OK, so it seems that I am running PT 12.4.0. I want to upgrade to High Sierra. If I am reading this correctly, I'll need to upgrade PT12 to a higher level as well, but I assume, still a PT12. Is that correct?? If I am right, how can I do that? If not what are my options?

Re: Upgrading IOS for PT 12
Dont remember when the change was made but take a look at your iLok License Manager and details of your PT license. It should say "Release Limit" somewhere and that is the date that determines which PT versions it authorises.

Re: Upgrading IOS for PT 12
I'm not seeing Release Limit in the details section of my I-lok. I have a Deposit Date (12/30/2015@ 5:43 pm). It also shows an expiration date of 12/30/16 @ 5:43 pm. When I click on the refresh button in I-lok manager, it says that the renewal is pending.

Re: Upgrading IOS for PT 12
It tells me your license is too old. You need to find a reseller that can sell you "reinstatement" (of suport and update plan) which will get your license updated. DO NOT buy a "renewal" code because that will not work if you do not have active support plan.

Re: Upgrading IOS for PT 12
OK, If I understand you correctly, I will need to do this BEFORE I can download High Sierra. MY version of PT will not work with high Sierra.
