Otherwise, with the duplicating playlist method I'm assuming it would be a lot of work to roll back to an ARA earlier in the process. You'd have to redo each subsequent ARA in order to get back to where you are.

It can get convoluted, no doubt.
But maybe over time they'll improve the workflow. As ARA grows more and more people will request this kind of flexibility.
