I am uncertain if this is the same issue, but the statement above about the connection issue remains active tho !

general plugins + Sequoia 15.1.1 question:

so NOT on my main work machine (Mac Studio ultra) nor my backup work machine (2019 Macpro) .....

but on my very occasional ProTools use .....my *personal (office work) laptop* that is just a super occasional travel ProTools machine

i see in Avid compat chart Sequoia OS15.1 is now approved.

My concern is *maybe* some plugins might be pissy (and i can do tests on this same MacBookPro after most likely upgrading OS to Sequoia)

… but any known (general AAX plugin specific) reasons anyone here knows of to NOT upgrade to Sequoia OS 15.1.1? (no VIs run)

for laptop work - literally only an ilok plugged in to this laptop. no interface, no D command anywhere here.

I'm not aware of any plugin issues if you run the 2024.10/10.1 on Sequoia. But that is just me, you should certainly try googling around especially on DUC with the site: duc.avid.com qualifier.

There was a earlier bugs in 2024.6 that affected Spectraonics and some other vendors plugins that other users here did a great job tracking down and Spectrasonics issued a fix, but so did Avid in 2024.10.

There have been changes that affect plugins in the last ~year so some caution is warranted. There are also just multiple other plugin related bugs fixed in 2024.10 so maybe good to be running that if it shows no other issues for you. If you are on Sequoia that official support is on 2024.10/.10.1, although personally I've been running the previous releases with no problems *for me*.

There's an awful lot of "no" and "testing" on that chart. More than I'd want to see before upgrading.

As of the 19th it's supported but with "Known Issues". See here. Notably making use of efficiency cores in Apple's M processors in 2024.10 and up.

update - so i opened up the spreadsheet of all the plugins that are a "must have" and i methodically reached out to each plugin manufacturer to ask about PT 2024_10 and Sequoia and M1 M2 compatibility... i have heard back a "no issues" from about 2/3 of my plugin manufacturers... and waiting for the other 1/3 to get back to me. (black friday and all so will be a delay)

YES, i looked at each plugin manufacturers websites... and 99% of them did not specifically mention Sequoia either way......

so i'll wait' till i hear back from 100% of my "must have" plug makers before i update my *office* MacBookPro (they is a very occasional backup travel machine)

Note - SONNOX website said M4 apple computers have a big problem with Sonnox plugs (but M1 M2 M3 are ok) ... interesting!
