Is it possibel to check if your early beta build of Pro Tools can do this test below to see if the bug PT-263050 has been fixed (I've been waiting coming 5-Years):
1) Create 5 Audio Tracks 2) set all 5 tracks inputs to bus 1-2 3) hide and make inactive track number 3 4) now click on any input of the other remaining (not hidden) tracks and choose “Select Assignments to bus 1-2” So does Pro Tools un-hide and show the hidden track? (track number 3) > If yes, then the bug has still not been fixed sadly, so we're still stuck on version 2019.12 again All Pro Tools should be doing is selecting the tracks and nothing else. Thanks |

That's a long wait! Have you had any correspondence with Avid about this bug?

I suspect Janne means early beta builds of macOS Sequoia.

I've been testing PT on Sequoia for a while and haven't run into any issues but that's a rudimentary setup. The main studio still has Sonoma. I'm not feeling enough of an urge to climb the Sequoia (god I hate typing that word, almost as much as "simultaneously") tree on that complex machine. It's super fast and super smooth with Sonoma so someone would have to convince me that "15" is a valiant update.

I've also been running 2024.3 on Sequoia from the easiest Sequoia betas and for all my relatively small session, audio only, very lite Pro Tools Control, very lite VI, work has been fine, (but I do also run up some heavier ~100+ track audio and VI test sessions). As I've warned in other threads be careful of extrapolating my or others use to your use unelss you know it's similar. The positive side was this at least for me was much more stable than the awful situation with the then current versions of Pro Tools on the early Sonoma beta and production releases.
On the negative side of Sequoia (including the recent 15.1 betas for many of these) I'm seeing a bunch of silly/nasty bugs being reported by technical (non-audio) developers. Kernel panics caused by simple loopback datagram traffic, Xcode bugs, security and privacy bugs etc. So like with any major OS release if there is no reason to go to it don't and at least wait out a couple of initial releases. Unfortunately over the top of all this is the AI focus of this release and the dragged out release of the AI crapware that Apple is doing in 15.1 etc. Which would make me even more inclined to wait out multiple updates. There are folks in the Apple ecosystem calling out how broken macOS and iOS releases have become, how the big marketing event driven synchronous release of so much stuff is breaking things. I doubt Apple with listen much or make sensible changes here, I suspect it's hard to loosen their grasp a little on their AI silliness. Last edited by Darryl Ramm; 10-11-2024 at 01:46 AM. |
