Hello all,
I have an HDX card with a broken Port A. I was once working on my computer, when it suddenly jerked downwards with a Mini Digilink cable still in Port A. Unfortunately, Port A suffered bent internal pins, so I have been getting along using Port B. I finally reached out to Avid and was quoted a repair cost of ~$1200. I can't make any sense of that repair expense, as there are used cards on the market for as low as $1400. I know this connector replacement is a simple matter of finding the part and attempting a very low-risk hot air rework. Does anyone have any wisdom for finding a Mini Digilink port? Someone found the old Digilink connector on mouser some years back... Any help is truly appreciated!

How mangled did Port A get? That's a shame.
Based on a quick look at some online images of HDX cards, an old thread here on DUC, and a quick search of Mouser ... it might be this one: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail...lImFemqw%3D%3D I can't guarantee that's correct or that it would be an easy diy repair. Sounds like Avid's way of servicing it would be to replace the entire card.

Thanks, JJ. It seems that part is the connector for the old HD cards. I'm talking to a tech about dissecting a female mini digilink cable in order harvest the female connector, then install it on the card. This seems like the best route right now - unless someone happens to know the part ID?

A connector out of a cable is not likely what you want, you want a PCB mount connector. Look very closely there is likely a manufacturer or part number on the connector and you'll likely find it with a parametric search on Digikey or Mouser etc.

Photo of HD Native board looks like HDR IFYG1 on the metal of the connector. I can't find the 1FYG1 anywhere quickly.
But may be Honda Connector HDR series. Start there... https://product.htk-jp.com/EN-top1/s...ch/hdr_series# Don't confuse with other "HDR" connectors that are nothing to do with these. Other threads on DUC in the past have pointed at Hirose MD*X series. Start there... https://www.hirose.com/en/product/c/...ns%3A26&text=# Any technician should be able to measure the connector, maybe needing to de-solder it from the board and be able to identify exactly what part it is from what vendor and find that or a matching replacement. |

Thanks so much for the help, everyone. The part appears to be the HDR-EA26LFYPG1-SLD+. I'll be ordering one and having a local tech install it. I hope this helps someone avoid Avid Repair in the future.
