Avid Link menubar icon black

My Avid Link menubar icon color has been nearly impossible to see for at least a year or two.

Far right of this screenshot:


Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling and toggling Dark & Light mode on macOS. Minor but growing annoyance.

May I know what OS version you're on?

Ah apologies, forgot to say – macOS Sonoma 14.5. I′ve had this problem since macOS Ventura.

There are 2 solutions:

1. Search this forum to find out how to make Avid Link go away, so it's not in your menu bar anymore

2. Try different wallpapers or use light mode and maybe even Reduce Transparency in the system Accessibility settings to make your menu bar opaque and light colored.

Avid Link has absolutely no idea how to exist in the MacOS menu bar and cope with Light/Dark modes.

The usual Pro Tools MO to make your computer bend over backwards changing OS-level settings to make things work. Well, I appreciate the feedback anyway.

Hopefully customer support here will hit us back with a real solution. Maybe there's a config file hiding somewhere in the Library folder?

I had the same experience with Sonoma and Ventura.
As I understand, the problem is the automatic switch between light and dark modes. If you choose a fixed mode, light or dark, and restart the Mac, the icon remains white like the other icons in the menu bar.
In my case, it works.
I hope that Avid will be able to implement the automatic appearance mode switch.

Here the same since dark/light mode appears, years ago.
Avid never cares about that, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
It would be appreciate if AVID will fix it, it's not an Apple/OS version thing.

I am amused and confused by the hate avid link gets on here. To each their own, I guess.


I like most of the ideas behind it and have used it without failure for well over a year through multiple software and plugin upgrades. No software is perfect, and Pro Tools itself still has plenty of warts, but all this constant cry to remove it seems excessive and tiring. I am personally still waiting to see one example where it doesn't work correctly for me. (and no, that is not a call for your horror stories, please...) Just 2c from a happy user.
