Question Sync issue, pro tools MIDI and MIDI controller, timing issue

hey everyone. so i'm using my new Akai MPK 49 w/ Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 and i'm having a bit of a Sync issue. especially noticed while using the built-in Arpeggiator on the MPK 49. i set the pro tools tempo to "131" and then set the tempo on the MPK 49 to "131" but when i record the arpeggiation, it's slightly off time. as in it's not perfectly set to the grid in protools, even when i slide the notes as a whole to match at the starting bar, they're less and less in sync as the timeline progresses.

my MPK49 is set to "internal" midi clock (otherwise the arpeggiator doesnt work)

in Pro Tools -> Setup -> Peripherals, Machine Control:
MIDI Machine Control (Master) is 'Enabled' and set to the Akai MPK49, Port 1

in Pro Tools -> Setup -> Peripherals, Synchronization:
MTC Reader Port: Akai MPK 49, Port 1
MTC Generator Port: Akai MPK 49, Port1

in Pro Tools -> Setup -> MIDI --> MIDI Beat Clock:
Enabke MIDI Beat Clock for...(is checked), and Akai MPK49, Port 1 is selected

can anyone help me out trying to get the arpeggiation to be exactly on time ? thanks.

Ello, (2 years latter)

Well, you need one MASTER clock. Different gear will never match even so tempo is set to same rate individually.

One unit needs to drive, all other needs to sync.

If the MPK cannot sync ARP from external. Well then you need to sync from the MPK.

If you really, really cannot get it to work; you do have the last resort with the BEAT DETECTIVE. But I do not advice this, as it will create other issues like choppin... etc.

Cheers.
